"What one wishes is to be touched by truth and to be able to interpret that truth so that one may use what one is feeling and experiencing, be it despair or joy, in a way that will add meaning to one's life and will hopefully touch others as well.

This is art in its highest form. Those moments of enlightenment are what I continue to live for."

Michael J. Jackson © 1988

Pencil, graphite, final editing in photoshop; reference image: link.

This one, opposed to "Michael Jackson," is merely its cropped counterpart; I particularly like it cropped, and consequently posted it.

I had to get this pict into my fav, cause this is absolutely A-MA-ZING!!! No kidding-it's the most beautiful draw picture of Michael what i've ever seen. My friend asked me to draw her favourite singer MJ, so I'm looking for the inspiration...and now I'm shaming cause I know that I won't draw it so beatiful as you :) Really nice job

Although his face wasn't the most attractive, this is definitely an attractive piece of graphite art. I think this is the best Michael Jackson drawing I've seen yet!

Thank you very much. [smile]

I darkened what dark was lost when I scanned the image, and adjusted the contrast a little.

oh, I got another question! How did you get the hair so dark?
Did you use charcoal?

I initially used a generic .5 lead mechanical pencil (for the whole drawing), then went back and darkened the whole thing using 3B, 6B and 9B graphite "pencils"; for the hair, I definitely used a lot of my 9B.

Are graphite "pencils" made of charcoal?
(I'm sorry, english is not my first language)

No need to apologize [smile], your English is great.

So, it's my understanding that graphite's what's in your normal pencil (the pencil lead), and graphite pencils (sort of redundant) are just the darker pencils of pencils. [grin] I don't know if this makes any sense, but they usually range from HB to 9B, and can go really dark, where as your normal drawing pencils are usually harder leads, from 9H to HB. [sigh] I don't know if that makes any sense... but I do know graphite isn't charcoal.

What's your first language?
